    The Black Knight

    There was a Black Knight

One of the fastest both on his feet and on a horse.

Skillful and cunning Knight known to face all circumstances with bravery.

His main and only goal in whatever he did was to win

Many wars he did fight as a knight

Through many kingdoms he did travel.

Striving to prove himself worthy of honor.

Calm when approaching danger and overcoming it in strategy.

A love for fun he had.

Feasting all nights with friends he did eating the best food and wine.  Always has a great number of friends because of his ability to charm.

Riding through dangerous places and roads was no spooky thing to him.

Bold and fearless he was riding on a white decorated as it for battle.

In his shiny black Armour with his lance and his black shield. Always on the lookout for adventure he was.

Which always got him into trouble.

The Government of the Republic of Ghana The Republic of Ghana got its name from the medieval Ghana Empire. The real name of the empire was Wagadugu. Old Ghana is located 500 miles north of present Ghana. Some of the tribes of present day Ghana had ancestors who came from the Old Ghana Empire. The first people to discover modern day Ghana were the Portuguese in 1471. The country as at now is divided into 10 administrative regions. Accra is the capital of Ghana. The Ghanaian government is divided into three. They are the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary. The Ghanaian Government is a Constitutional democracy. The Executive The Executive is made up of the president, Ministers, Ministries and the Council of State. The President: the president is both the chief of state and the head of government. The current president is John Agyekum Kufuor. The council of state: the council of state is a small body of prominent citizens of proven character, who advises the president on national issues. It is the same as the council of Elders in the traditional political system. They can be former ministers, chiefs, professors etc. the cabinet ministers are subject to approval by parliament elections. The 1992 Ghanaian constitution states that ‘There shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the president, vice president and not less than ten and more than nineteen ministers of state." -- Constitution Article 76, Clause 1’ The Current president Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor is completing his second term as President. All Ghanaian presidents according to the constitution are allowed to rule the country for a maximum of eight years. After his first four years, elections are held to enable the president to stand for rule for another years if he wins the elections. The current president won the 2000 elections by a majority of 59.46% to continue with his second term in office. The main opposition party won by 43.6%. The president will step down in 2008. The Legislature The Parliament is the main form of legislature. The parliament is made up of 230 parliamentarians who have been elected by their various constituencies to represent them. The speaker of Parliament is the head of parliament. He has the power to rule or becomes the head of state for the mean time when the president and his vice are not in the country. The speaker of parliament is voted by the parliament by a majority vote. The current speaker of parliament is Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi Hughes. Political parties also play role in the legislature. They have members present in the parliament. There are ten registered political parties in Ghana. The Supreme Court is the final court of appeal in Ghana and can also preside over matters relating to the enforcement or interpretation of the constitution. The judiciary is independent and subject to only the constitution. Distribution of powers The Executive is the main form of the Government. It has more power compared to the other forms of government. The Legislatures are the ones who make laws that are implemented by the Judiciary.
